PrePaid Power: Terms and Conditions
Eligibility
Residential members billed on the R-S rate with compatible meters are eligible for PrePaid Power.
New Members
New members applying for PrePaid Power will need to complete a membership application. A minimum payment of $100, which includes the $5 membership fee, $30 account establishment fee and $65 of prepaid electricity, is required before service is connected.
Existing Members
Existing members may convert to PrePaid Power. When a monthly billed account is converted to PrePaid Power, the existing deposit is applied toward any outstanding balance and any remaining credit will be applied to the PrePaid Power account. If a past-due balance exists, the outstanding balance may be set up on a deferred payment plan, in which 50% of each payment you make will be applied to the deferred balance. In this plan, 50% of each payment made will be applied to the deferred balance. A minimum $50 credit is required to convert to PrePaid Power.
Rate
PrePaid Power members will be billed on the Residential Service Pre-Paid rate (RS-PP).
Security Deposit and Late Fees
The normal security deposit for a residential account is not required and no late fees are applied to PrePaid Power accounts.
Reconnect Fees
Reconnect fees are not assessed when a PrePaid Power account is reconnected.
Payments
The minimum payment amount is $5. Payments can be made 24 hours a day via credit card or debit card through your online account, SmartHub, or by phone at 855-386-9924. Cash and check payments can also be made at the Wauchula or Manatee Service Center locations during business hours. Payments made online through other channels are also accepted; however, these payments will not be posted immediately (it can take up to 7 days for PRECO to receive these payments).
Automated Payments
Members do not have the ability to set up automatic payments (Autopay) or have their payments drafted from their checking/savings account.
Billing
PrePaid Power accounts will not receive a monthly bill. Daily account history will be available through your online account. This application allows members to modify their notification settings. The member is solely responsible for managing and updating the notification settings on their PrePaid Power account.
Bill Viewing and Bill Calculation
All PrePaid Power accounts will be calculated daily with daily adjustments of all charges and fees deducted from the prepaid credit balance. The account will be reconciled once per month.
Payment arrangements, credit extensions, medical essential service or energy assistance
PrePaid Power accounts will not be eligible for these programs.
Operation Round Up
Accounts enrolled in PrePaid Power are eligible to participate in Operation Round Up. The Operation Round Up contribution will be calculated during the monthly billing reconciliation.
Communication / Balance Alerts
The member is responsible for managing and updating the notification methods on their PrePaid Power account. You will automatically receive a low balance notification when your PrePaid Power balance reaches a credit of $25.
Disconnection and Minimum Payments for Reconnection
A PrePaid Power account will be subject to immediate disconnection any time the account reaches a zero balance. Service that has been disconnected due to a credit deficit will remain disconnected until any deferred balance is paid and your PrePaid Power account reaches a minimum credit balance of $5.
Facilities Use Charge
The Facilities Use Charge will continue to accumulate on the member’s account and will be deducted from the member’s next additional purchase payment. Disconnection for reasons of non-payment does not release the member from their obligation to pay the daily Facilities Use Charge.
Returned Checks
If a returned check or a chargeback is received on an account, the amount of the return will be charged back to that account immediately. If this causes the credit on the account to be exhausted, service will be subject to immediate disconnection. PRECO has the right to decline payments by check if the account reflects 3 or more returned items in the last 12 months.
Account is disconnected for nonpayment for 7 consecutive days
The account will be considered inactive, your PrePaid Power account will be closed and you will receive a Final Bill. You will have to apply for electric service if you want to establish electric service.
Termination of Service
Service terminated at the request of the member will receive a refund of any remaining credit on the account after all final bill amounts have been calculated. All refund checks will be sent to the mailing address on file.
Conversion to a Monthly Billed account
A member may elect to convert their PrePaid Power account to a monthly billed account at any time. PRECO will require full payment of the deposit and balance owed, if applicable, as a condition of continued service.
Prepaid members will comply with and be bound by PRECO’s Bylaws and Service Rules and Regulations
All charges and fees, such as returned check fees, meter tampering fees, etc., apply to PrePaid Power accounts. Service will not be connected if electrical code is not met.
In compliance with the Terms and Conditions of mobile carrier
If member has provided a cell phone number, or another number that is later converted to a cell phone number, member agrees that PRECO may contact member at that number. The member must opt in to receive text messages. An opt-in code will be sent via text message to all members electing to receive notifications through text message. Member also agrees to receive pre-recorded or auto-dial calls and messages. Network and other data or text charges may apply.
