Florida’s climate allows trees to grow year-round. When branches mesh with power lines, electric service safety and reliability are compromised. That’s why Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) works to keep trees away from its 3,500 miles of power lines.
Vegetation Spray Maintenance
Vegetation spray maintenance is a cost-effective way to control vegetation that may interfere with power lines. Peace River Electric Cooperative contracts with Edko to conduct this maintenance. Spraying is currently taking place in the following areas:
- The western portion of our service territory in Manatee County, including SR 70, SR 64, Mocassin Wallow Road, and US 301.
- The southeast portion of our service territory in Hillsborough County.
For an individual to be added to the prior notification of pesticide application list, they will need to contact our Pest Control Section at (850) 617-7997.
