Peace River Electric Cooperative’s charitable foundation, Operation Round Up, granted $2,500 to assist Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County with the purchase of a refrigerated truck.

“This donation will help us work toward fulfilling our goal to distribute fresh produce in Manatee County directly to those who can benefit the most in low-income neighborhoods where fresh produce is not readily available,” shares Cindy Sloan, vice president and general manager of The Food Bank of Manatee. “We are fortunate to have great relationships with our local Florida farmers who have a surplus of fresh produce and are committed to making sure produce can be distributed to local families in need.”

Funding for Operation Round Up is made possible through the generosity of Peace River Electric’s member-consumers who voluntarily allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar for charitable purposes.
