Operation Round Up Grants Emergency Funds to Food Groups
Today, the charitable foundation of Peace River Electric Cooperative, named Operation Round Up, granted $30,000 to three area organizations serving food to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Typically, organizations come to us by submitting a grant application when they are in need of funding,” shares Ellen Hamel, Operation Round Up chairperson. “Due to the recent increase in jobless families, we called a special board meeting in order to release funds immediately to organizations who are providing food for families.”
Operation Round Up’s board of directors voted unanimously to grant $15,0000 to Hardee Help Center (Hardee County), $10,000 to Our Daily Bread (Manatee County) and $5,000 to The Salvation Army (Manatee County).
Operation Round Up is made possible through the donations of Peace River Electric consumers who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar for charitable purposes. For more information about Operation Round Up, visit PRECO.coop online.
