Deadline to request unclaimed capital credits retired in 2022 is March 31

PRECO is a not-for-profit electric utility owned by its members it serves.

As a member-owner, you share in the profits, called margins.  They are returned in the form of capital credits.

We are attempting to locate current and former members whose capital credits checks issued in 2022 remain unclaimed.  These checks were either returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable or were not cashed.

How Capital Credits Work

Returning margins is a two-step process that begins with allocating capital credits in the year margins are generated.

  • Step 1. Margins are generated whenever PRECO collects revenue in excess of expenses.  Annually, PRECO prorates margins to its members according to members' total annual billing for that year.
  • Step 2. In the future, when it's financially sound to do so, PRECO disburses the capital credits through the retirement process.
