Operation Round Up, Peace River Electric Cooperative’s charitable foundation, granted $140,000 in college scholarships to 37 local students. Since its launch in 2005, Operation Round Up has provided 365 college scholarships amounting to more than $1,600,000 in the cooperative’s 10-county service area.
“It is both a privilege and honor for our Operation Round-Up Board to be able to provide opportunities to allow for the future growth and development of our students.
As the Operation Round-Up program is fully funded by the generosity of our members, it is you/our members, who ultimately contribute to our community and thereby provide a monetary incentive to our students pursuing their future dreams with a higher education.
As Winston Churchill once said. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Richard Illch, Chair–Operation Round-Up
To be eligible, student applicants must reside in a home served by PRECO, maintain good grades, be active in the community, and submit an essay describing their life, career, and educational goals.
Operation Round Up is funded by the voluntary donations of PRECO’s member-consumers, who allow their monthly electric bills to be “rounded up” to the next dollar. The funds collected are used to help local families and organizations with food, shelter, clothing, health, and education needs.
