Cooperative Rewards
Cooperative Rewards: Enroll and get $30 in bill credits!
Peace River Electric Cooperative is teaming up with Seminole Electric Cooperative (Seminole), our wholesale power provider, for a smart thermostat program called Cooperative Rewards. The program is designed to help reduce energy costs and increase the reliability of our electric grid. It’s simple and convenient. By enrolling in Cooperative Rewards, you can make money while saving energy!
Smart thermostats save energy dollars
Smart thermostats are Wi-Fi-enabled devices that help manage the energy used by your home’s heating and cooling system. Some smart thermostats learn your temperature preferences and automatically adjust your home’s heating and cooling system to help you save energy.
Program eligibility
To take advantage of Cooperative Rewards, members must agree to participate in cooling and heating adjustments, have a qualified smart thermostat and be accepted into the program by PRECO. To participate, your smart thermostat must be connected to your home internet.
Eligible brands are Alarm.com, Emerson Sensi, Honeywell Home, Lux and Google Nest. See Frequently Asked Questions for specific model information.
How it works
With the Cooperative Rewards program, Seminole will raise or lower smart thermostats to manage energy usage in participating homes. Brief adjustments (called “controls”) will be made to enrolled thermostats during times of high demand or critical need. In most cases, you won’t even notice these adjustments. You’ll save energy and money without sacrificing comfort.
You can opt out of any control event by manually adjusting your thermostat. However, participants opting out of more than 25% of program control minutes will not be eligible for some program incentives.
If you have additional questions about the program or to enroll, please visit Frequently Asked Questions or contact us at cooperativerewards@energyhub.com.
Program incentives
PRECO participants will receive an annual $20 bill credit each March (limit one per electric account), and an additional $10 bill credit for participation in winter/heat controls each October. In addition, if you remain enrolled and participate in at least 75% of event minutes, you may be entered for a chance to win a $250 VISA/MasterCard gift card (one per household) at the conclusion of each program year (March).
Controlling your thermostat reduces strain on the electric grid and helps keep energy costs lower for everyone. While Cooperative Rewards offers direct savings for you, everyone wins when the result is a more efficient electric system.
You may be contacted by PRECO or your thermostat vendor to enroll in the Cooperative Rewards program.
Cooperative Rewards is a program that will run annually beginning in 2023. The current program structure or continuation is not guaranteed year after year.
