Emergency Evacuation and Shelter Assistance

In the event of an emergency, do you need assistance to evacuate your home and move to a shelter? Contact your county’s Emergency Management Office. Each county has its own registry program.

Why register? By providing your information in advance, you’re helping emergency managers adequately plan for your safety in the future. You’ll also receive important information in the event of an emergency. It could even save your life.

Registration is simple. Go to the Florida Special Needs Registry or call your county’s Emergency Management Office.

While you’re at it, let PRECO know if you have a medical need requiring electricity

PRECO wants to know if you have a medical need for electricity. Our Medically Essential Service Program identifies residential members who depend on continuously operating electric-powered medical equipment to sustain life or prevent serious medical complications. Call us toll-free at 1-800-282-3824 to sign up. You will receive a form for you and your doctor to complete.

PRECO cannot guarantee uninterrupted electric service, so individuals with critical care needs are strongly encouraged to have a backup plan to move to an alternate location with power, if necessary. This classification does not assure that electric service will be restored more quickly in the event of a loss of power.
