4 Ways to Report Outages

PRECO strives to provide continuous, reliable electric service every day. Unfortunately, Mother Nature, car crashes, small animals and various other things sometimes interrupt the flow of electricity through the power lines.

Outages never happen when it’s convenient. Suddenly and without warning, you’re sitting in the dark. Naturally, when your lights go out, you want to let PRECO know as quickly as possible.
PRECO offers several fast and efficient methods for reporting outages. Choose the method that’s right for you.

4 Ways to Report Outages

Your online account

Report outages through your online account at www.preco.coop. To save time, register your account now before an outage occurs.

The mobile app

Notify PRECO on your smartphone or tablet by using our SmartHub mobile app. Download SmartHub from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Outage Texting

Text the word OUT to 800-282-3824. You’ll receive a confirmation message, outage updates when available and a notification when power is restored. To use Outage Texting, your phone number must be in our customer account system. Update your phone number by accessing your online account at www.preco.coop or by calling us at 800-282-3824 during business hours.

This is the least efficient outage reporting method because a large outage can cause phone lines to quickly become overloaded, resulting in busy signals and long wait times.

Don’t do this

Please do not report outages through PRECO’s Facebook or Twitter accounts. Our social media accounts are not monitored 24/7, so your outage message may not be seen for hours. Plus, the methods shown above automatically give PRECO your location and account information while Facebook and Twitter do not.
