Meet PRECO's Newest Member of the Board of Directors:

Bruce Vickers

At the District 3 Meeting held in Kenansville, February 2010, the members elected Bruce Vickers to PRECO’s Board of Directors. He will fill the seat formerly held by the late Douglas Partin for 30 years, whose recent passing left a vacancy on the Board.

Mr. Vickers and his wife, Cathy, are long-time residents of Kenansville. He is employed by the State Department of Agriculture as an Agricultural and Consumer Protection Inspector.

He is a member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club, Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show and Fair, and organized and served on the Board of Directors of Kenansville Community Association. He has been a PRECO member since 1985.

“We are pleased to welcome Bruce to the board,” shares Bill Mulcay, PRECO’s CEO. “He has admirably served on our Operation Round Up Board for five years, and is already well acquainted with service to our members and the co-op way of putting members first.”

Mr. Vickers served on the Board of Directors of PRECO’s Operation Round Up Charitable Foundation since its formation in 2005. His seat on the Operation Round Up Board will be filled by appointmentWe will fill the seat he vacates  as soon as possible. During his tenure on the Charitable Foundation’s Board, Operation Round Up has granted more than $650,000 to needy individuals, worthy organizations, and college-bound students.

The primary duty and function of PRECO’s Board of Directors is to set the policies which govern the Cooperative. PRECO currently operates with total assets valued at $200 million, supplying electricity to more than 33,000 services in 10 counties. Directors are elected by the members in their individual voting districts, but once elected they must represent not only the members of their District, but the interests of all Cooperative members. Directors serve three year terms.

A director must believe in the Cooperative's principles, including the right of the people to provide an essential service for themselves, member ownership and control, each member having one vote, and providing service to the greatest area feasible.

A board member is expected to be a leader in the community, be of the highest respect and integrity, and possess the ability to exercise sound judgment. Board members are required to attend board meetings, be available to constituents, stay informed on important issues, attend educational opportunities, support the decisions of the Board, and impartially represent the interests of all members.

We look forward to the contributions Mr. Vickers will make to this Board in the future.
